OVERVIEW:
Today we will begin researching data to include in your documentary. Instructions on the parameters of the documentary can be downloaded. We will go over these instructions in class, and answer whatever questions you have. This documentary will be due at the end of next week. You will have time to work on your documentary - research and editing - in class.
After all your questions have been answered, I would like to get an idea of who will be working alone, and who will be working with other people in the class.
There's a lot of information out there that you could use. These links are merely a suggestion and can be used to get you started, but I encourage you to find your own sources. I may require you to use sources that I do not list.
You may find video and written testimonies here:
A Teacher's Guide to the Holocaust
United States Holocaust Memorial Museum
USC Shoah Foundation Institute
Any file you save to the school harddrive can be saved in your personal webspace provided by the school (or you can e-mail it to yourself). Please make sure you keep track of which evidence you get from which website - don't forget to credit the source in your documentary!
Tomorrow and Friday we meet back in the computer lab. You will have the rest of today's class period, as well as tomorrow, to gather research and "story board" your documentary. On Friday part of the class there will be a mini-lesson using the school video editing software; the rest of Friday's class you will have to complete your research and/or start editing your documentary.
